STRIPES (Strengthening T-VET to foster Relevant and inclusive Internship Programmes and Employability Skills) is a project co-funded by the European Union, running from 2023 to 2026, to make vocational education in Lebanon more relevant to the job market and more inclusive.
Why it matters
Lebanon’s overlapping humanitarian, economic, and governance crises have pushed youth unemployment higher. Technical and vocational education and training (TVET) is a practical lever for socio-economic recovery, and STRIPES strengthens it where it counts.
What the project does
- Builds the capacity of vocational training providers to work with both private and public partners.
- Improves the quality and labour-market relevance of training.
- Aligns training with local, regional, and national development strategies.
It delivers tailored training, workshops, study visits, co-design sessions, and train-the-trainer programs to set up STRIPES Centres, which connect institutes, students on internships, graduates seeking work, and employers.
Partners
CIS College, VU Amsterdam, IRADA, and INMAA. Associate partner: Berytech.
Duration
2023 to 2026.
What it leaves behind
Institutional policy documents, protocols, manuals, an online platform, and a stronger, better-regarded vocational pathway for students and employers alike.
